That pool looks unreal! I loved this post too. I've never considered traveling there but you def made me want to check it out! Dubai does seem sterile and superficial and this was a nice contrast. Love how you were able to feel a great impact of the culture during your yoga & time of prayer. Miss you!

Aprille wasn't Arabian Nights the theme to one of your High School dances?! Peter has been to Jordan and I really wanted to go but when we were booking these flights for the middle east portion of our trip we were planning to go to Israel and Jordan. Then there was the bombing in Israel and the airport shut down. We didn't know about safety in Israel and since Jordan had been clumped in with that trip we cancelled our trip there too. I for sure want to make it to Petra someday.

Oman is beautiful, so glad the random airfare savings brought you there! Great diving there too. :) Too bad you didn't get a chance to add Jordan to your travels in that region. I have not been but it's a bucket lister for me! There is certainly an air of magic in that part of the world. Arabian nights . . . Safe travels!

With respect to traveling in the Muslim world from Morocco to Egypt to Dubai to Oman and Indonesia I am constantly impressed with the humanity people carry when treating one another in person, despite differences. Clinton once said, "our differences do matter, but our common humanity matters more." I think this is true not only in theory but also in practice. Our beautiful time in Islamic countries really spotlit the great values the 99% use as a yardstick to interact with the world, one another and people of outside faiths.
