I see why if you lived closer it’s a good place to visit for shopping, good eats, good weather, and luxury hotels. I was the one that pushed for Dubai. Still glad we went, but probably won’t make it back anytime soon. I could see where it would be fun for to go back and compare. You probably wouldn’t recognize it.

I hear you about Dubai! I lived there in 1992, and none of that stuff was around yet. It was still the best place in the Middle East to live (as an American teen anyway), but not much of a cultural feel even then. Still, I would love to see it now after all this change, mostly just to compare to the old days! Maybe my job will take me there, otherwise I don’t think I’d use my time and money to go back.

I really like that picture from the observatory deck at Burj Khalifa of you looking out the windows next to the telescope. The one with the reflection and silhouette.

Dubai still confuses me.
